Ammon News - The Jordanian-Bahraini Joint Higher Committee held its 5th session in Manama, Thursday, and was chaired by the PM, Dr. Bisher Khasawneh, and by His Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the Bahraini side.
His Highness the Bahraini Crown Prince received Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh at Gudaibiya Palace in Manama.
The two sides discussed bilateral cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to enhance them in all fields, files of common interest, matching the views of the two countries on various Arab and regional issues and positions on them, especially the Palestinian issue.
The Prime Minister and the Crown Prince of Bahrain affirmed the depth of the fraternal and historical relations that bind the two countries, and their unwavering keenness to develop them in various fields, in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The two sides affirmed that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries is still modest and does not rise to the level of aspirations and capabilities available to both countries.
Khasawneh stressed that the Jordanian-Bahraini relations are rooted and well-established, based on a rich history and the fraternal relationship between the two countries.
Khasawneh and Al Khalifa noted the importance of the meetings of the joint Jordanian-Bahraini Higher Committee in supporting and strengthening the joint cooperation process.
The two sides discussed opportunities to expand the fields of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of trade, economy, investment, medical and nursing sectors, culture, education, entrepreneurship, human resources and electronic services, and enhancing connectivity through the optical fiber network between the two countries and across them to the countries of the East and West, in addition to enhancing the entry of Jordanian medicines and agricultural products from Vegetables, fruits and meat to the Bahraini market.
Khasawneh referred to Jordan's efforts to create an attractive environment for local and foreign investments and the adoption of a new law to regulate the investment environment, stressing Jordan's welcome to Bahraini investments and any partnerships between the sovereign funds in the two countries.
PM presented the comprehensive modernization program that Jordan is implementing under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
For his part, Bahrain's Crown Prince and Prime Minister affirmed that the relations between the two countries are of special importance, expressing hope that the committee will reach results whose positive effects will be reflected on the two countries.
He affirmed the Bahrain's interest in expanding the horizons of cooperation with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in various fields, and removing any obstacles that impede the process of their joint cooperation, especially in the field of intra-trade.
The Supreme Committee listened to a briefing on the meetings of the Preparatory Committee presented by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Minister of Labor Yusuf Shamali and Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullatif Zayani, noting that the committee reached 7 agreements, memorandums of understanding and executive programs, in addition to a set of agreements that will be signed during the coming period.
PM Bisher Khasawneh and Bahrain's Crown Prince and Prime Minister witnessed the signing of 7 agreements and memorandums of understanding, which included: a memorandum of understanding between the Jordanian-Bahraini private sector, a memorandum of understanding in the field of work and vocational training, a memorandum of understanding in the health field, and an executive program for cooperation in the field of youth for the years 2023 - 2025 , and an executive program for cooperation in the educational field and in the field of granting the right of sovereignty over information, and the announcement of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as a partner of the Sea-Air Cargo Services Center for global sea-air freight services in Bahrain.
The two sides also signed the memorandum of the meetings of the joint Jordanian-Bahraini Higher Committee in the work of its 5th session.
