Ammon News - The European Union (EU), in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, held a workshop on Wednesday to promote the European Commission's Technical Assistance and Information Exchange (TAIEX) instrument.

TAIEX supports public administrations regarding the approximation, application, and enforcement of EU legislation and facilitates the sharing of EU best practices. It is largely needs-driven and delivers appropriate tailor-made expertise to address issues at short notice in three ways: workshops, expert missions, and study visits.

The workshop aims to promote TAIEX for Jordanian public administrations and highlight the added value it can achieve for Jordanian partners, said Corinne Andre, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Jordan.

"The EU anticipates receiving additional TAIEX requests from Jordan following the conclusion of this workshop," she added.

Emad Shanaa, Director of the International Cooperation Department at the ministry, said Jordan has been moving towards reform with confidence sparked by a true will for great achievements; therefore, leveraging TAIEX and other EU instruments like the Twinning projects will expedite the reform process and address various challenges.

Several Jordanian institutes, which have received support from TAIEX for the past ten years, shared their experiences in the field during the workshop.

The workshop also included a presentation on how to fill out TAIEX requests online, which have various fields such as agriculture and food safety; freedom, security, and justice; and environment, energy, transport, and telecommunication.
