Ammon News - The tourism minister Tuesday said that Jordan's tourism revenue could hit JOD2.9 billion by the end of 2022, with almost JOD1.5 billion in the first half of 2022.

Deputising for HRH Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nayef Fayez sponsored the ceremony of Madaba winning the title of Arab Tourism Capital for 2022 at the Dead Sea Panorama.

Fayez said that the Ministry worked under challenging circumstances that the COVID-19 pandemic had imposed to realise the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II and practice the Ministry's mandate in breathing life into tourism, adding that figures indicate that tourism revenue could exceed JOD2.9 billion.

He noted that the numbers indicate that more than 1.9 million tourists visited Jordan in the first half of 2022.

He said, "Today, Madaba, which hosts many archaeological sites, is one of the most important governorates on the Jordanian, Arab and international tourism map. God has blessed it with a special location and diversity in climate and terrain that made this good spot a centre for the basis of many civilisations, leaving us with a history that we can observe everywhere in the city."
