Ammon News - Agriculture Minister Khalid Hneifat received Australian Ambassador Bernard Lynch and stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral ties between Amman and Canberra.

Hneifat said that green projects constitute a priority for Jordan whose resources have been affected by climate change, where the Kingdom suffered from drought over the past two years.

Such projetcs, Hneifat said, will contribute to creating and developing pastures in the Kingdom.

He also noted that the Kingdom paid attention early to food security, where it embarked on building horizontal silos that save some 90 per cent of storage costs.

The minister stressed that the agricultural sector is the pillar of food security and is only strengthened through partnerships with the private sector, adding that the scarcity of water in the Kingdom led the country to rely on rain-fed crops supported by the government.

For his part, Lynch stressed support to the ministry and its personnel in terms of exchanging expertise to overcome challenges facing the Jordanian agricultural sector.
