Winners of 16th King Abdullah II Award for Physical Fitness honoured

Ammon News - Deputising for HRH Crown Prince Hussein, Culture Minister Haifa Najjar honoured the winners of the 16th King Abdullah II Award for Physical Fitness, which saw the participation of more than 800,000 students from 2,994 public, private and military schools nationwide.

During the ceremony, Najjar presented awards to 40 students, who won first and second places in the age group of 9 to 17, in addition to three students with disabilities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Tuesday.

The minister also presented awards to the three directorates and the nine schools that achieved the best results across the Kingdom for boys and girls.

The director of educational activities at the ministry, Abdulsalam Shunnaq, said that the award witnesses an increase in the number of participants year after year, where its first edition in 2005 saw the participation of 19,000 students from 148 schools.

In age groups of male winners, the age nine group was won by Mohammed Sarahin, the age 10 group by Yakoub Asmar, the age 11 group by Karam Lababneh, the age 12 group by Ahmad Qassem, the age 13 group by Mohammed Abu Sharif, the age 14 group by Ali Bani Hamad, the age 15 group by Hamzah Qadi, the age 16 group by Suhaib Manasir and the age 17 group winner was won by Assem Seif.

For female winners, the age nine group was won by Ghina Sawawyeh, the age 10 group winner was Bisan Masoud, the age 11 group winner was Hala Sukkar, the age 12 group winner was Carmen Bakkar, the age 13 group winner was Roya Khalaileh, the age 14 group winner was Bana Qoqazeh, the age 15 group was won by Iman Habaq, the age 16 group was won by Jana Qadi and the age 17 group winner was Nour Fawair.

In regard to schools for the deaf, the winners were Rayan Obeidien and Malak Razqan.

The minister also presented awards to the directorates of education to the Central Irbid Education Directorate, the Military Education Directorate and the Bseira Directorate.

Iskan Al Rashadieh Mixed Elementary School won first position in the schools’ category of 50 to 200 students, Arar Academy School came first in the category of 201 to 500 students, and Al Husseiniya Secondary School for Boys won first place for 501 students and more.
