PM follows up firsthand on Aqaba explosion

Prime Minister, Bisher Khasawneh arrived in Aqaba Monday evening to follow up firsthand on efforts to deal with the repercussions of the explosion accident of a gas tank in the Aqaba port earlier today.

The Prime Minister, accompanied by Ministers of Interior and Health, ckecked on on conditions of the blast-wounded who were evacuated to Prince Hashem Military Hospital and other hospitals in the city.

Khasawneh expressed his deepest condolences and sympathy to victims' families and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

Khasawneh chaired a meeting in the Aqaba Governorate's operations room, in the presence of Ministers of Interior and Health, and officials in Aqaba, to examine circumstances of the explosion and efforts to deal with it.

 

"We dealt with the tragic accident and its developments with the utmost transparency, and the main goal is to preserve the safety of citizens and those near the place of the accident" the Prime Minister said.

He added that all state agencies are following moment by moment on the explosion of the gas tank in Aqaba.

He commended the readiness of all cadres from various institutions in dealing with the accident with high professionalism.

"We are working around the clock with the various stakeholders until the impacts of this tragic accident are completely finished," he added.

"The medical staff informed us that a number of the injured have recovered and started leaving hospitals" Khasawneh said during the meeting.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to get information from its official sources, and not to pay attention to rumors.
