Ammon News - The Public Security Department (PSD) on Sunday evening revealed details of locating the whereabouts of the killer of Iman Irsheid, the student at the Applied Science Private University, who was gunned down on campus a few days ago.
The PSD spokesperson said that investigation teams' continuous efforts led them to determine the whereabouts of Uday Khaled Abdullah Hassan, born in 1985 in a farm in the Bala'ma area in the northern governorate of Mafraq.
He added that a security force immediately raided the location, and surrounded the killer, who pointed his gun towards his head, refusing to surrender and threatening to shoot himself. Then, force members negotiated with him, but he refused to surrender and shot himself in the area of the right side of the head, according to the initial medical report. He was transferred to the hospital and placed in the intensive care unit, unconscious and with vital signs lost.
Continuous efforts in all intelligence and operational aspects began as soon as the crime was reported. From the first moment, the PSD Director gave instructions to form an investigation team from all the specialized units to work around the clock under his direct supervision, the PSD spokesperson noted.
He added that the team collected information and followed up on all details, events, and crime scene findings, in order to locate the killer who planned his crime and tried to hide his identity and track.
He explained that the killer vanished immediately after committing his crime and there was no prove that he had contacted any of his acquaintances or relatives, but the accurate investigative methods enabled the team to determine his identity and his place of residence, which was raided. And the killer was tracked in a number of places he frequently visited before and after committing the crime.
He further added that the manhunt intensively continued over the past few days with high professionalism, until the killer's whereabouts was identified and police raided his hiding place and surrounded him this evening.
The PSD spokesperson said that the killer's gun was seized, and a team of criminal laboratories collected all evidence to complete the investigation, and referred the case to the competent judicial authorities in accordance with the law.
The PSD extends its sincere condolences to the victim's family, colleagues and the Jordanian society, stressing that the hand of justice will reach every criminal, no matter how hard he tries to escape, and that it will strike, under the law, anyone who seeks to attack the lives citizens and threaten them, whoever he is.
The PSD urged everyone not to publish any unreliable information regarding the crime and not to re-publish what is circulated on social media, unless it was issued by official authorities, especially since much of what was published was incorrect and contributed to spreading rumors.
