Ammon News - Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army (JAF) Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti said Tuesday that the General Command pressed with development and modernization of its units, providing trained human resources and using technology to raise their capacity to defend the country's borders and deal with any threat to national security.

He said during a visit yesterday to the Eastern Military Zone's headquarters, where he was briefed by commander Brig. Gen. Naji Manasir on operational, training and logistical tasks and future plans, stressing the combat readiness of troops to respond to any border threat or attempt to undermine the Kingdom's security.

Huneiti said JAF will provide the units with various weaponry and equipment in order to carry out their tasks efficiently and respond to regional threats at all levels, commending the efforts of the Eastern Military Zone's personnel and their professionalism and morale.

The Eastern Military Zone this year thwarted many infiltration and drug smuggling attempts by militias and organized gangs along the border.
