Health ministry official inspects suspected poisoning cases

Ammon News - Secretary General for Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases at the Health Ministry Raed Shboul on Saturday checked on the health condition of several people who were admitted to Jerash Public Hospital for suspected poisoning. Shboul said that the test results indicate that the water resources in Jerash are not contaminated, noting that inspection tours on food institutions will be intensified.

A total of 41 cases aged between seven and 13 years visited Jerash hospital, out of which five were admitted, while the others were discharged after receiving treatment, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Head of the Jerash Health Department Mohammed Al Tahan decided that a water station, a pastry restaurant and two bakeries in Souf region must remain temporarily closed to avoid infections.

Also on Saturday, Jordan Food and Drug Association (JFDA) Director General Nizar Mheidat said that the JFDA is still following up on reports on suspected poisoning cases at Jerash Public Hospital, noting that lab analysis results of the food samples taken from the institutions that were closed will be announced once ready.
