Ammon News - Jordan's poverty indicators for 2021/2022 will be released in early 2023, when an ongoing survey of household expenditures and income is completed, according to Shaher Shawabkeh, Director-General of the Department of Statistics (DoS).

Speaking to the Lower House Finance Committee, on Sunday, Shawabkeh said the survey will be completed in October 2022, adding that 55 percent of the study sample, which comprises 25,000 households across the country and at Syrian refugee camps, has already been surveyed.

The survey aims to gather information based on household income and expenditure, as well as other basic statistics, in a bid to examine poverty in society, including non-financial "multi-dimensional" poverty.

The Household Expenditure and Income Survey was launched in October 2021.
