Covid-19 cases down by 13% within a week-Belbisi

Ammon News - A total of 269 virus cases were registered in the Kingdom during the 21th epidemiological week of 2022 spanning between May 21 and 27, down by 13% from a week earlier, adviser at the Prime Ministry for Health Affairs and the official in charge of the COVID-19 pandemic, Adel Belbisi, said.

Meanwhile, no COVID-19 deaths were recorded in the same period , for the 4th consecutive week, he told "Petra" on Sunday.

A total of 15,933 coronavirus tests were conducted throughout the past week, compared to 17, 789 administered a week earlier, down by 10%, he noted.

The share of tests that returned a positive result, known as the positive rate, stood at 1.7 per cent over the last week, at a similar rate
a week earlier, he pointed out.

The number of Jordan's active cases reached 184, compared to 238 during the 20th week, a drop by about 23%, he said.

Regarding the vaccination process, the number of firs doses given during week 21 reached 5,365, compared to 8,155, while second jabs hit 4, 518 compared to 7,358, a week earlier, he noted.

As for the third dose, 1,962 jabs were administered, compared to 3,235, at a total of 11, 845, compared to 18, 748 a week earlier with a drop by about 37%, he said.

The total number of the first dose recipients stood at 4,783, 859, at a 75% of the target group of 18 years and over, while 4, 502, 580 people were double jabbed, at 70% of the same target age group. A total of 658,377 booster doses were also administered, he noted.

As for the total numbers of vaccinated people for the age group 12-17, he said 233, 417 first jabs were administered, at a rate of 25% and 190, 087 for the send dose, at a rate of 20%, he said.

Meanwhile, 230 first jabs were administered for the 5-11yrs group, while 164 children received the second dose, he noted.
