Ammon News - Jordan, under its wise Hashemite leadership, has overcome many challenges since since its independence 76 years ago, Minister of State for Media Affairs and government spokesperson, Faisal Shboul, said.

Speaking to Jordan TV on the occasion of the Kingdom's 76th Independence Day on Wednesday, Shboul said this year's celebration coincides with the beginning of the state's bicentenary, under the theme: "Transition towards a New Future."

In this regard, Shboul said Jordan is a modern state built with scarce resources," referring to Jordanians' historic influence on the region's level.

Continuing: "Jordan is a model in the region, and the new state's centenary focuses on political reform, which began with a clear Royal vision by modernizing its political system, by endorsing elections and political parties laws and the related constitutional amendments."

The newly approved laws on modernizing political system gave young people a "key" role, in terms of reducing the candidacy age and increased their party-based representation, Shboul pointed out.

On administrative modernization drive, he noted the economic projects, which the government is scheduled to announce, require development of public institutions and their workers, by merging public institutions and ministries.

Noting the "very complex" regional conditions, including global crises that affected the prices of basic commodities and freight fares, he said this trend also affected indicators of Jordan's "good" recovery from the Covid-19-induced repercussions.

Referring to regional circumstances, he noted to Jordan's "firm" positions on the Palestinian cause, stressing the Kingdom's "central" role in this regard under the Hashemite custodianship over Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites.

Regionally, the minister referred to the challenge facing Jordan's northeastern borders, adding that the country has started to see a new war of terrorism and drug smuggling on its borders and stressed Amman's capability to address such phenomena.
