Ammon News - Head of the Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee, MP Khaldoun Haina, said Jordan and Tunisia follow a similar policy and a "moderate" approach in dealing with international and political issues.
During the committee's meeting on Wednesday, with Tunisian ambassador to Jordan, Khaled Suhaili, Haina said Jordan stands and supports all decisions that would preserve Tunisian people's interests and rights.
In turn, the panel's members stressed the importance of strengthening Jordanian-Tunisian relations, noting that the two countries have "deep-rooted brotherly and historic" relations.
The MPs added: "We look forward to more real partnership at various levels, especially in the field of empowering women to participate in all decision-making positions."
In addition, the lawmakers pointed to the similar Jordanian-Tunisian visions and proposals aimed to strengthen the joint partnership in various fields and sectors, as well as their shared positions and viewpoints on regional and international issues, especially the central Palestinian cause.
The deputies noted the LH committee is following up with interest the latest developments on the Tunisian arena, stressing its support for all decisions that would preserve Tunisia's security and stability.
Suhaili, for his part, said the Tunisian-Jordanian relations are "solid and reflect the effective partnership between the two countries, their keenness on sustaining bilateral cooperation mechanisms and following up to implementation of the recommendations made by the Joint Jordanian -Tunisian Higher Committee."
The envoy noted the bilateral relations have witnessed, during the recent period, an "active" endeavor at the level of joint committees, referring to efforts made by the two countries' official and private authorities, which came in implementation of the joint higher committee's recommendations.
To date, many agreements were signed and the 3rd session of the Joint Business Council (Tunisian Confederation of Citizen Enterprises (CONECT)/Jordanian Businessmen Association) was held, he noted, pointing to preparations for a council's additional meeting that brings together Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA) and the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) on April 6.
These positive indicators aimed to enhance bilateral relations, especially in light of the two countries' leaderships' keenness of His Majesty King Abdullah II and President Qais Saeed to strengthen joint partnership in various fields and sectors, the diplomat pointed out.
The envoy also referred to the two countries' shared positions and viewpoints on regional and international issues of common interest, which would pave the way for a prosperous era of "fruitful" cooperation between the two countries based on effective partnership to serve common interests.
