28 virus deaths, 2,976 cases recorded Saturday

Some 28 coronavirus deaths and 2,976 infections were registered in the Kingdom Saturday, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 11,715 and the caseload to 971,401, according to the Health Ministry's daily figures.

The positivity rate of PCR tests collected today was 9.70 per cent, according to the ministry's media brief.

It said that the number of currently active cases of the virus in the Kingdom reached 60,131, with 147 patients admitted to hospitals today and 99 discharged, and the total number of confirmed cases being hospitalized was 1,159.

The daily report showed that the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was 27 per cent, intensive care beds 54 per cent and respirators 37 per cent.

In the central region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was 29 per cent, intensive care beds 39 per cent and respirators 19 per cent, it said.

In the south, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was 14 per cent, intensive care beds 15 per cent and respirators 14 per cent, according to the figures.

The daily summary pointed to the recovery of 3,579 cases, bringing the total number of expected recoveries after the end of the 14-day isolation period to 899,555.

The report also said that those who got the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine numbered 4,160,104, and the number of those who were double-jabbed climbed to 3,768,621.
