WHO launches new initiative to halt malaria transmission

Ammon News - The World Heath Organization (WHO), on Thursday, launched a new initiative that aims to halt transmission of malaria in 25 more countries by 2025.

According to a statement on its official website, the WHO said that countries in Southeast Asia have already made great strides, adding that the number of cases in Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam fell by 97 per cent between 2000 and 2020. Globally, 39 countries and territories have been recognized as malaria-free by the WHO.
