Ammon News - Jordan's national football team concluded its FIFA World Cup campaign with a match against reigning world champions Argentina on Sunday.
Despite the defeat, Al-Nashama delivered a spirited performance, becoming the first team to score against Argentina since the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The historic goal was scored by Jordanian star Mousa Al Taamari.
Argentina netted three goals past Jordan goalkeeper Yazeed Abulaila, all from set pieces, including a penalty.
Argentina opened the scoring in the 18th minute from a direct free kick just outside the penalty area, before doubling their lead in the 29th minute through a penalty.
In the 54th minute, substitute Mousa Al Taamari pulled one back for Jordan, scoring the nation's only goal of the match.
Argentina captain Lionel Messi sealed the 3-1 victory in the 79th minute with another direct free kick.
Earlier on Sunday, the Jordan Football Association announced the Nashama's starting lineup for the World Cup clash against Argentina. The starting XI featured: Yazeed Abulaila, Ihsan Haddad, Abdullah Nasib, Yazan Al Arab, Hossam Abu Dhahab, Mohannad Abu Taha, Nizar Al Rashdan, Noor Al Rawabdeh, Odai Al Fakhouri, Ali Azaizeh, and Ali Olwan.
The substitutes were: Abdullah Al Fakhouri, Noor Bani Atiyah, Saad Al Rousan, Saleem Obeid, Mohammad Abu Al Nadi, Mohammad Abu Ghosh, Mohammad Abu Hashish, Anas Badawi, Rajaei Ayed, Amer Jamous, Mohammad Al Dawood, Ibrahim Saadeh, Mohammad Abu Zraiq, Mahmoud Al Mardi, and Mousa Al Taamari.
