Adhering to preventive measures "is the only vaccine, first line of defense against pandemic"

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of State for Media Affairs and the government official spokesperson, Ali Al-Ayed, said everyone is partners in bearing the responsibility to limit the hike in infections and deaths due to the coronavirus (Covid-19), by adhering to necessary preventive measures.
"The only vaccine so far and the first line of defense to protect citizens from the coronavirus pandemic is wearing masks, maintaining physical distancing and adhering to prevention methods," Al-Ayed said in a press conference held Tuesday at the Prime Ministry.
Al-Ayed reiterated the importance of the media and its role as a key and important partner of the government in sending awareness messages to citizens on the importance of wearing masks, physical distancing, and adherence to all preventive measures.
He pointed out that all decisions taken are subject to periodic review and evaluation, noting that the government has the courage and boldness to amend, reverse or continue implementing these decisions according to the epidemiological situation and future health conditions.
The State Minister highlighted the set of decisions taken by the government in coordination with the Coronavirus Crisis Cell, with the aim of controlling the pandemic and limiting its spread, which include avoid imposing a comprehensive curfew for long periods during this stage.
In response to a question on the government's mechanism to deal with Jordanians coming through border crossings, Al-Ayed confirmed that there is a government committee that studies all procedures related to the return of citizens coming through these crossings, adding that the details of this mechanism will be announced this week.
On the possibility of postponing the parliamentary elections to be held in November 10, Al-Ayed stressed that the decision to set the date of the elections rests with the Independent Election Commission (IEC).
