Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi on Tuesday discussed with his Iraqi counterpart Fouad Hussein efforts underway to advance Jordanian-Iraqi cooperation in economic, political and defense spheres.
During a telephone conversation, the ministers reviewed progress made towards deepening cooperation between Jordan, Iraq and Egypt based on the outcome of an August summit meeting between His Majesty King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.
Emphasizing Jordanian-Iraqi relations, Safadi said the Kingdom will always stand by Iraq and offer all support the Iraqi government needs to overcome all challenges and maintain the country’s security and stability.
He said terrorism is still a threat that requires international and regional cooperation and provision of additional support to the Iraqi government which, Safadi said, is taking clear and tangible steps to establish security and stability and keep Iraq away from regional and international conflicts.
In turn, Hussein affirmed that the Iraqi government will continue to pursue its fight against terrorism and safeguard the country’s stability and resources.
The Iraqi minister thanked Jordan for its unwavering support to Iraq, stressing the need for continued coordination and consultation between the two countries.
