Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Health, Sa'ad Jaber, Saturday, confirmed 9 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the total number of infections to 381.

In a press briefing conducted at his own home in compliance with the blanket curfew orders, Jaber pointed out, that the new cases are distributed as follows: seven cases from one family, who had contact with the father of the children. The father was diagnosed four days ago, as the eighth case was his co-worker, while the ninth case is in the isolated area of Marqab in northern Amman.

The Minister also confirmed seven recoveries, three in the Prince Hamza Hospital, another three in the King Abdullah University Hospital and one in the Jordanian Royal Medical Services.

He said, the number of cases currently receiving medical treatment is as follows: 133 in the Prince Hamza Hospital, 39 in the King Abdullah University Hospital and 19 in the Jordanian Royal Medical Services.

Jaber sressed that the fluctuation in the numbers is not worrying.

"When someone is infected, we expect within five days to start recording more cases of those who made direct contact with the infected, especially their family, and therefore this fluctuation does not disturb us, but rather indicates the strength and eagerness of the epidemiological investigation teams and the security services to follow up on the cases and those who had made contact with them," he explained.

He also stressed that this calls for extra caution: "Tomorrow the curfew ends and people will go out to the markets. The most important thing that protects our families is keeping a distance of 1.5 meters to 2 meters, as this protects you and your family, and indicates that we are a classy society that follows instructions and protects itself just as we protected our homeland during the previous period."
