Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Jumana Ghuneimat, called on the Jordan Teachers Association (JTA) to suspend the teachers' strike and allow students to return to schools.

Speaking to media outlets on Sunday, Ghuneimat called on the JTA to prioritize public interest "and the students' at the forefront."

Continuing:" Dialogue is still open with the JTA, and all teachers' issues and demands are subject to study and discussion by the government, to settle all outstanding issues".

Students and their right to education should be away from these issues, as long as the government and the JTA have agreed on the principle of dialogue, she pointed out.

The minister noted that Friday's meeting, held at the Ministry of Education and attended by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, discussed a number of complaints submitted to the directors of governorates' education departments by parents expressing their desire to allow their children to return to schools.

Last week, the government presented an initiative based on forming a joint team of the JTA and the government, to develop "a new vision and model" that launch a partnership between the stakeholders, Ghuneimat explained, adding this drive would lead to a discussion on all issues related to the educational process, to achieve the basic objectives of developing the educational outcomes, and improve the teachers' living standards.

The government believes the JTA is a key partner in the educational process development, the minister said, emphasizing the importance of the teachers' role and their "sacred" mission, which "significantly" contributes to building young generation and preparing them for the future.
