SSC to issue verdict in Karak terror attack on Tuesday

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The State Security Court (SSC) is expected to issue its verdict in the case of 11 defendants involved in the December 2016 terrorist attacks in Karak governorate, 140km south of Amman, on Tuesday, SSC President, Col. Mohammad Afif, said in statement to Petra.

The defendants face different charges of plotting subversive acts, manufacturing explosives, possession of firearms and ammunition, knowingly funding terrorist acts, promoting the ideology of a terror group, and attempting to join terrorist groups, among other charges.

10 of the defendants had pleaded "not guilty" to the charges and one defendant still remains at large.

The attack caused the death of 10 people, including four police officers, three gendarmes, two citizens and a Canadian tourist, and 34 people were injured.
