International official calls for supporting Jordan to deal with refugees' issue

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - UNDP Arab States Deputy Director Sarah Poole said Jordan is at the forefront of countries that opened its doors to the refugees, and called for supporting the Kingdom in addressing this challenge.
In an interview with Petra, Poole said "Our partnership with Jordan is one of the most important partnerships in the region and we will remain committed to supporting Jordan to ease the burden facing it as a result of the Syrian refugee crisis.
She said that UNDP is working in partnership with the Jordanian government and a number of international organizations to renew commitment to support Jordan in dealing and managing the refugee crisis.
Regarding the value of the UNDP's support to the Kingdom, Poole said that the UNDP implemented various development projects amounting to about $135 million in various regions of the Kingdom in cooperation with international donors, the Jordanian government and local community institutions.
There are many international programs and conferences that we work on to enable Jordan to deal with refugees", she said, pointing out that Jordan bears a major burden due to the refugee crisis.
