Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi, on Sunday, received U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees' (UNHCR) Special Envoy, Angelina Jolie, who concluded a one-day visit to the Kingdom, during which she visited the northeastern Al-Zaatari Syrian refugee camp.
Safadi briefed Jolie on Jordan's efforts to meet the refugees' humanitarian needs.
He called on the international community to help Jordan shoulder the burdens of the refugees crisis and provide education, health services and decent means of living for 1.3 million Syrian citizens.
Jolie commended the Kingdom's humanitarian stance and its efforts to help refugees despite economic difficulties.
She underlined the need for the international community to continue to shoulder its responsibilities towards Jordan and provide it with support that would help it meet the refugees' needs.
Safadi and Jolie agreed on continuing constructive cooperation between Jordan and UNHCR, which would ensure the provision of basic and vital services to hundreds of thousands of refugees.
