Ammon News - The Jordan-Hejaz Railway Corporation (JHR) has announced a temporary halt to its train services as winter sets in, marking a proactive approach to essential maintenance. This seasonal pause is aimed at ensuring that the railway infrastructure, including tracks, stations, and rolling stock, is ready for the anticipated tourist season.

Ali Ali Odaibat, JHR spokesperson, explained that the maintenance efforts will focus primarily on the southern line leading to Qatraneh, while also addressing the northern line. These upgrades, carried out by local teams, aim to enhance the quality of tourist experiences on the railway.

Services are expected to resume in the spring, with trains running to three key destinations: the historical site of Umm el-Jimal in the north, the Al-Jizah in the south, and further to Qatraneh. There is also a possibility of offering train trips for groups, contingent on weather conditions.

This maintenance program not only aims to improve the infrastructure of the railway but also seeks to preserve its rich historical significance. By enhancing service quality, the initiative is set to bolster domestic tourism and contribute to the overall development of Jordan's railway sector. Petra
