Minister says 165,000 Syrian students study at Jordanian schools

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordanian public schools have welcomed students from 85 nationalities, including 165,000 Syrian students, placing massive pressures on educational infrastructure and forcing many schools to switch to the two-shift system, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Muhammad Thuniebat.

Thuniebat told his fellow Arab counterparts that Jordan has opened its schools to Syrian students and has been providing them with all educational services they need on behalf of the whole world. Speaking at the opening of the 10th edition of the Arab Education Ministers Conference, Thuniebat said the Syrian refugee crisis put major burdens on educational infrastructure, urging the international community to extend the necessary support to the Kingdom.
