Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - An Iraqi lawmaker said Saturday Jordan has a role in finding a political solution in his country, and said a recent visit to the Kingdom by Iraqi National Alliance leader Ammar Al-Hakim reflects Amman's understanding of the Iraqi situation.
Hakim met on Wednesday with His Majesty King Abdullah II, who told him that a stable and prosperous Iraq is a Jordanian interest, and pledged support to Baghdad's efforts in fighting terrorist gangs.
Habib al-Tarfi, an MP of the Citizen bloc of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, led by Hakim, said the Amman visit comes against the backof its hosting of the upcoming annual Arab summit, as Jordan is one of the regional countries that best understood the Iraqi situation, in addition to the common interests between the two countries.
Hakim's visit to Jordan was part of his bid to present an initiative for a settlement to "end the Iraqi-Iraqi differences inside and outside the country".
"The initiative will involve all patriotic Iraqis, who had a dubious vision about the situation", said Tarfi.
