Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Investments in the private hospital sector amounted to over JD3 billion, said President of the Private Hospital Association Fawzi Hamouri, stressing the importance of the medical tourism's input in the national economy.
He told a seminar on therapeutic tourism, held within the 8th International Conference of the Royal Medical Services, that the private hospital sector provides jobs for a large number of Jordanians in various technical and administrative fields.
Jordan Hospital Director, Dr. Abdullah Al Bashir, said qualified medical staff is the key to a successful therapeutic tourism, noting a shortage in specialists due to a brain drain in the sector as Jordanian doctors are lured by better jobs abroad.
Al Israa Hospital director, Dr. Nael Rashdan, pointed to competitive medical prices in the Kingdom, which, he said, are the lowest compared with other countries given the distinguished service.
Hamouri thanked the Royal Medical Services, which organised the conference and exhibition that drew delegates from 54 countries, saying the gathering had opened the door wide for the private sector's participation to turn Jordan into a key global medical destination.
