Planning minister urges European Parliament to provide more grants to Jordan

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury urged the European Parliament to help Jordan, and enable it to get more grants to support the budget and implement projects of priority.
The minister made the remarks as he met with on Tuesday with a delegation representing the European Parliament's Committee on Budget, currently visiting the Kingdom.
Fakhoury highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and the EU as well as his appreciation of the aid provided by the EU to Jordan that helped in implementing reform programs and supporting the budget.
He also briefed the delegation on the continued impact of regional crises on the Kingdom, mainly the Syrian refugee crisis.
"Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, succeeded in changing challenges into opportunities in reforms it carried out in the political, social, economic and administrative fields," the minister added.
Fakhoury also reviewed Jordan's political reforms, mainly the upcoming parliamentary and municipal elections, decentralization as well as economic reforms.
Members of the delegation voiced understanding of the extent of challenges facing Jordan due to the continuation of the Syrian crisis. They also praised Jordan's pivotal under the leadership of His Majesty the King to enhance peace, security and stability in the region and fight terrorism and extremism.
