PM opens 11th Government Leaders Forum

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour opened at the Royal Cultural center on Saturday, the 11th Government Leaders Forum, which was organized by the Ministry of Public Sector Development to discuss public administration development.
Minister of Public Sector Development Khleif Khawaldeh said the ministry launched the forum in 2013 to exchange knowledge and experience among leaders of public agencies including the ministries' secretaries general, directors and CEOs of government agencies, commissioners of public entities, and to keep them up-to-date with the best practices in public service.
"The government is aware on the importance of reforming and developing public administration as it is a key element for the success of sustainable and comprehensive development in light of the current conditions in the region and the challenges facing public agencies," he added.
Khawaldeh voiced thanks and appreciation for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for its cooperation to establish partnerships and support local administrations to provide quality services.
Director of the UNDP Global Centre for Public Service Excellence in Singapore Max Everest-Phillips highlighted the pivotal role of public administration in addressing challenges to achieve sustainable development.
Phillips, who presented a briefing on public administration development said that challenges facing public services are not technical but are related to policies, noting that these challenges should be dealt with by government leaders.
