Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour and Yemeni Vice President and head of the interim government Khaled Bahah, Thursday discussed bilateral relations and regional developments, especially in Yemen.

Bahah is heading an official Yemeni delegation currently visiting the Kingdom.

Ensour stressed Jordan's appreciation and sympathy for all groups and components of the Yemeni people, pointing out to His Majesty King Abdullah's directives to cooperate with the legitimate Yemeni government.

He said His Majesty is one of the biggest supporters of Yemen's unity, safety and stability, pointing to the historical efforts of His Majesty the late King Hussein Bin Talal to serve Yemen's unity and stability.

The prime minister said that the war in Yemen has destroyed much of its infrastructure and has created feelings that Yemeni people are not familiar with.

The premier expressed Jordan's readiness and commitment to provide Yemen with its needs for health relief, pharmaceutical products and human resources.

He added that Jordan is part of the Arab coalition to support the legitimacy in Yemen (Decisive Storm) aimed at restoring security, stability and ending the chaos in the country.

In response to the remarks from members of the Yemeni delegation on university students and the continuation of cultural exchanges between the two countries, Ensour noted that hundreds of Jordanian students in Yemen had returned to Jordan, as a result of the war, which has put pressure on colleges in the Kingdom, but stressed that the government is helping these students.

In turn, the Yemeni official expressed his appreciation for Jordan's support to Yemen and its security and stability. He also conveyed Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi’s greetings to His Majesty King Abdullah II.

He recalled the late King Hussein’s great efforts to sign the document of pledge and accord in Amman in 1994 for the unification of Yemen.

Bahah added that the seed of discord which was planted in that period under a regime that was not built on the correct foundations and rules has resulted in the events in Yemen today.

Stressing that militias in Yemen need to return to the right path, he said, "We wish they will be part of Yemen's future." The Yemeni vice president said, "We have the UN Security Council Resolution 2216, the Gulf initiative, the constitution draft and the dialogue, all of which constitute terms of reference for finding solutions to the crisis in Yemen," pointing out that the Yemeni government agreed this week on a humanitarian truce.

Bahah stressed that Jordan is one of the few countries that had not denied entry to the Yemeni people into the Kingdom, despite its difficult conditions.

He announced that Yemen will soon nominate an Ambassador to Jordan, affirming his country's desire to revitalise diplomacy between the two countries.
