King, British PM hold talks on ties, Mideast issues

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II and British Prime Minister David Cameron, on Tuesday, held talks on means to cement Jordanian-British ties as well as developments in the Middle East.

The meeting touched on efforts to combat terrorism in the Middle East and North Africa region through a comprehensive approach in order to address this danger which threatens all countries.

On Iraq, the King and the British PM stressed the need to support the Iraqi government in its endeavors to combat terrorist groups and promote national accord among all Iraqis.

The Syria crisis figured high during the meeting where the two leaders emphasized the need to find a political solution to bring about stability and put an end to the suffering of the Syrian people.

They also spoke about Egypt and underlined the importance of supporting this Arab country and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in his efforts to maintain its security and stability.

On Libya, the two leaders saw eye-to-eye on the need to back international efforts to aiming at achieving national reconciliation among all Libyans.

Cameron said his country is keen to boost its relations with Jordan to enable grapple with all challenges arising from regional turmoil, namely the Syrian refugees crisis.

In this context, Cameron noted that his county's financial support to Jordan to address the Syrian refugees crisis amounted to ?220 million this year.
