Jordan, China discuss tourism cooperation

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nayef Al-Fayez, and Chairman of the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), Li Jinzao, Thursday, discussed tourism cooperation between Jordan and China, in accordance with the mutual tourism cooperation agreement signed recently in Beijing.

The minister said the agreement aims to promote the travel of Chinese tourist groups to Jordan and includes designating representatives from the CNTA, to follow up on visa-related issues at the Jordanian Embassy and exchange information, in addition to appointing guides to escort groups traveling to Jordan and resolve obstacles, if any.

Earlier, Al Fayez participated in the 7th meeting of 'Beautiful China, 2015 - Year of the Silk Road Tourism', held in China Thursday. The meeting was organized by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in cooperation with the CNTA to mark the 20th anniversary of Silk Road Tourism, in the presence of about 40 ministers of tourism from around the world.

The Chinese official voiced his admiration at Jordan's advantages, tourist and archaeological sites, beauty of nature and its security and stability, praising the distinguished relations between Jordan and China and noting that he had visited Jordan and wandered around in some of the cities and tourist sites.

He expressed the hope that the Chinese language would officially be certified as the communicating language at the UNWTO.

The number of Chinese tourists to Jordan this year totaled 9,381, marking an increase of 1.6 percent compared to 9,236 in 2014.
