Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Authorities rejected a request by the former leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood to hold a rally on Friday because the request was submitted under the name a newly-licensed society.

In March, authorities granted a license to the Muslim Brotherhood to operate as a Jordanian charity after former supreme leader of Jordan’s Brotherhood Abdul Majid Thneibat and other leaders filed an application with the authorities requesting to license the group as a Jordanian charity not affiliated with any foreign party.

However, the former leadership filed a request with authorities seeking a permit to organize a rally marking the group's 70th anniversary. Amman Governor, Khaled Abu Zaid told Petra the request was denied because the party who filed it is not licensed and uses the same name of another licensed society.

He said everyone is required to abide the law, otherwise, violators will be subject to legal accountability.
