Appeals Court rejects Dahabi's conviction appeal

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Court of Appeals in Amman on Wednesday rejected an appeal by Jordan's former General Intelligence Department (GID) director of the sentence imposed on him to serve 13 years in prison after being convicted of corruption-related charges.

The Amman Criminal Court in November 2012 found former GID chief Mohammad Dahabi guilty of charges of embezzlement, money laundering, and exploitation of public office, and sentenced him to thirteen years and three months hard labor in prison, in addition to one year that would be reduced from his detention date.

The charges date back to to Dahabi's term as GID director from 2005 to 2008.
