Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) – The Lower House on Sunday issued a statement expressing its support of His Majesty King Abdullah's speech earlier in the day in which he vowed to firmly pursue the reform process in the country.

In his address during the graduation ceremony of the 26th class of at Mutah University's military wing, the King vowed to continue to build on the reform process "without fear or hesitation, for the will for positive change exists and is solid, and we have national institutions that are capable of translating this change into reality, based on a clear roadmap and the complementarity of roles among all components in our political system."

During the televised keynote speech, King Abdullah said the political reform roadmap is clear: "It is the accomplishment of democratic and reform milestones necessary to reach an advanced level of parliamentary government over successive parliamentary cycles, based on a parliamentary, partisan and program-based majority, in tandem with a parliamentary minority that serves as constructive opposition and a shadow government in the Lower House, proposing alternative programs and policies, so that the Lower House’s role in policy and decision-making, in addition to its monitoring and legislative roles, is consolidated." House Speaker Saad Hayel Srour said, at the outset of the session, that the King's speech had succinctly outlined all issues and challenges, both internally and externally.

"In my name and on behalf of all the representatives of the nation, we send our gratitude and love to His Majesty for his blessed leadership and say that every word he uttered will be in our hearts and minds and remain a beacon for us in the House of Deputies. We will endeavor with all our strength to back His Majesty's steps and this blessed march", Srour added.

"To our leader, we send the sincerest congratulations for the country's achievements, and to the homeland and its sons our blessings and hopes for progress and prosperity. This country will remain dear and impregnable under King Abdullah's leadership," he added.
