Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Dozens of pro-reform activists demonstrated in downtown Amman on Friday, renewing calls for the government to take serious measures to combat corruption and put corrupt officials on trials.

The demonstration, organized by youth and popular pro-reform "Herak" movements, launched following Friday midday prayer in front of Al Husseini Mosque in downtown Amman.

Protesters called for genuine reforms that produce tangible results to alleviate the difficult economic conditions facing the people, blasting the government for its intent to raise electricity and water prices.

Slogans raised during demonstration, under the banner of Friday's "Loss of Trust," stressed that "Reform is our only safety" and voicing that "the Arab Spring did not pass us."

Protesters also condemned the escalating violence in neighboring Syria, and lauded the Free Syrian Army to continue in fighting the revolution of "the Syrian People" until the fall of Bashar Al Assad's regime.
