Renowned Jordanian Poet Zyoudi Passes Away

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Renowned Jordanian poet Habib al-Zyoudi died Saturday morning after suffering from a heart attack.
Al-Zyoudi, 49, is known for his patriotic poetry writing on the love of the country and its noble causes, and remained one of the prominent cultural icons of Jordan.
He was born in Hashemiyyah in Zarqa in 1963, and earned his Bachelor's degree in Arabic Language from the University of Jordan, he won the State Encouragement Award in Literature in 1992, and wrote hundreds of poets in the love of the country and the Jordanian people.
He will be laid to rest on Saturday following afternoon prayers to Al-Massarra Cemetery in 'Aluk.
Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications and Minister of Culture Samih Maaytah on Saturday extended condolences over the passing of Al-Zyoudi, noting that Al-Zyoudi spent his years preoccupied with national issues and cultural creativity.
Al-Zyoudi worked at the Jordan Radio and Television Corp, headed the Jordanian Poetry House (Bayt al-Shi'r al-Urduni), Al-Rai newspaper, and headed the Cultural Bureau at the University of Jordan, and the Arab Writers' Union, and was advisor to Minister of Culture.
"Al-Zyoudi will remain a monumental creative figure," Maaytah added.
