Ammon News - Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh stressed that Jordan is working hard to achieve a comprehensive transformation in the agricultural sector and the food system, taking into account all factors and services throughout the value chain such as food industries, transportations, supply chains, employment, energy, water, and promoting gender equality.

The Prime Minister added, during his sponsorship of the 37th session of the Food and Agriculture Organization’s Regional Conference for the Near East and North Africa, which is witnessing large international participation, that Jordan seeks to develop sustainable markets and enhance rural livelihoods, which enhances our quest for sustainable development.

We look forward to the conference, which includes great expertise and competencies, contributing to discussing pressing food and agricultural issues, and focusing on the global and regional framework of the FAO and its programs and priorities to achieve this goal, Khasawneh added.

Khasawneh also pointed out that the use of innovation and digitalization is still limited, and their use will play a strong and effective role in strengthening food systems to achieve sustainable development.

"The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, played a pioneering role in providing relief to the people of Gaza in light of the conditions of the barbaric war on the Strip through airdrops," he stated.

"Jordan is working to build flexible and innovative strategies and plans to enhance our ability to adapt and withstand through the optimal exploitation and development of natural and human resources, the adoption of modern technology in agriculture, and the use of appropriate tools that lead to alleviating the burden of these challenges," Khasawneh stated.
