Ammon News - A promising young footballer's remains were found in a river without his head after the young man went missing following a party.

Hugo Vinicius Skulny Pedrosa, 19, was dismembered and his remains were thrown into a river in the municipality of Sete Quedas, State of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil.

Police retrieved part of his hip, torso and thigh and identified Hugo through a tattoo of his late father, reports in Brazil stated.

He had been at a party in a gas station across the border before friends dropped him off at his ex-girlfriend's house in Sete Quedas, a town that borders Paraguay.

Hugo lived with his grandmother and she called him on the night of his disappearance (June 25) and he said everything was normal.

According to G1, Hugo was last seen by friends around 5 am on June 25. His mum reported him missing the following day.

Civil Police chief Lucelia Constantino said: "The head was not found, only the hip, torso and thigh."

Authorities were still searching the river for the young man's head on Monday, reports stated.

At least one suspect, whose name was not released by the police, has been arrested.

"They found him dead in the Iguatemi River, they cut him up," his mother Eliana Skulny said, according to Campo Grande News. "Such cruelty in the world, my God. My son was a good boy."

His cousin Andressa said: "We didn't expect that this would have happened. The body parts were found, but the police didn't find my brother's head, the police said they won't stop until they find it.

"How dare anyone do that? This is cruel and without scruples."

Hugo was a freshman in college and was majoring in physical education whilst playing as a striker for the municipality football team.
