Ammon News - Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yarub Qudah, revealed the Cabinet’s decision to freeze the decision to reduce customs duties for the next year.
During his meeting with businessmen on Saturday, Qudah said, "We studied the financial impact of reducing customs duties over the past two years, and we found that it was not beneficial. Accordingly, the government took a decision to freeze the reduction of customs duties for the next year."
In 2022, the government announced a decision to restructure customs tariffs in a way that enhances the competitiveness of the economy, which is part of a comprehensive customs reform in Jordan.
According to the decision at that time, the number of customs duty categories was reduced to 4 categories instead of 11 categories.
The decision at that time included setting the customs tariff under four categories: (15%) and (25%) during the first three years of implementing the decision.
