Ammon News - Director of the Epidemiology Department at the Ministry of Health (MOH), Dr. Ayman Muqabla, said that 27 cases of measles in Jordan are from individuals who have missed their vaccination dates and have been home isolated with no need for any hospital entry, and that a medical team has been assigned for cases that do require medical attention.
Muqabla told Amen FM that these cases include different age groups from different governates in the kingdom indicating that most cases of measles are infants (less than year old) and the age groups of 12 years and above.
The comprehensive national vaccination program scheduled for children includes 3 doses given at the age of 9 months, a year and a year and a half, he added.
He also pointed out that MOH has activated plans to spread in remote areas and to circulate to all schools for student vaccination card checkups and to raise the necessary awareness on the need to adhere to vaccination dates.
He finally noted that measles is a highly contagious virus and an infected individual to spread the virus to 16 or 17 other unvaccinated people, stressing the need to adhere to vaccination appointments as the only solution to avoid its spread.
