Iraqi activist Nadia Murad visits Kiev to help Ukrainian survivors

Ammon News - First Lady Olena Zelenska, wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, met with the global Iraqi human rights activist Nadia Murad, who arrived in Ukraine at the invitation of the President's wife to meet Ukrainian survivors and refugees who have suffered sexual violence linked to the conflict with Russia. This is the first visit of to our country.

Zeleniska welcomed the Iraqi visitor in an Instagram post and wrote: "Upon my invitation, Nadia is visiting Ukraine today, in the presence of Prosecutor Andrei Kostin, who briefed her on the effects of the Russian aggression and occupation with more than 88,000 war crimes. while the prosecutor cited the latest data: there are many women, men and children who have suffered from these crimes as investigations are being made.

Murad expressed, during a meeting, her hopes that her experience as a survivor will help deliver support to thousands of women and girls affected by the war, calling on the international community for quick reparations so that survivors can begin their recovery and deal with their traumas as soon as possible.
