Safadi, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Huneiti, and the GID Director, Major General Ahmad Hosni, laid wreaths at the Genocide Memorial in Kigali before a meeting with Rwanda Foreign Minister Vincent Biruta. Safadi said in press statements after a tour of the monument that documents the genocide in an area where about 250,000 of its victims were buried, "This monument stands as a sad reminder of the evil generated by hatred, ignorance and racial discrimination in Rwanda, which, today, presents with what it had achieved in renaissance and growth a model for what respect for the other, justice and compassion result in goodness and prosperity."
