King meets Guinea-Bissau president at Al Husseiniya Palace

Ammon News - His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday held a meeting with Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló, which covered bilateral relations and the latest regional and international developments.

At the meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace, King Abdullah stressed keenness to enhance ties between Jordan and Guinea-Bissau and bolster economic, political, and security cooperation.

Discussions covered efforts to counter terrorism within a holistic approach and continuing cooperation between the two countries in this regard, through the Aqaba Process initiative.

The meeting also addressed recent regional and international developments, including efforts to reach political solutions to regional crises.

President Sissoco Embaló expressed Guinea-Bissau’s keenness on bolstering cooperation with Jordan, commending the Kingdom’s role in coordinating international efforts to counter extremism and terrorism through the Aqaba Process.

His Majesty bestowed the Order of the Renaissance of the First Degree, which is granted to heads of state and government, on President Sissoco Embaló in appreciation for the visit and to further strengthen the ties between the two countries.

The Guinea-Bissau president presented the Amílcar Cabral Medal, the highest honour in his country, to the King, for his efforts to bolster bilateral ties and promote peace and stability in the region and the world.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, Youth Minister Mohammad Salameh Al Nabulsi, the Escort of Honour, Planning Minister Zeina Toukan, and a number of Guinea-Bissau officials attended the meeting.

Earlier, an official welcoming ceremony was held at Al Husseiniya Palace for President Sissoco Embaló upon his arrival.
