Jordan sees 10 Covid-19 deaths, 4,832 cases within week-MoH

Ammon News - The 33th epidemiological week spanning from August 13-19 saw 10 Covid-19 fatalities and 4,832 virus cases, marking a 18.6% infectivity-related drop, Ministry of Health announced.

With regard to testing, 27,312 PCR tests were conducted over the targeted week, compared with 33, 625, marking a 18.8% dip, with 17.7% positivity rate, according to the ministry's media statement issued Sunday.

To date, there are currently 4,189 active Covid-19 cases countrywide, compared with 5,187 a week earlier, with a 19% decrease.

Moreover, the ministry said number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 96, compared with 82 a week earlier.

On the national vaccination program, the ministry pointed out that the number of shots administered during the 33th week stood at 2, 088 for the first jab, 1, 518 for the second, and 1, 151 for the booster dose, totaling 4,757 shots, compared with 5,235 shots a week earlier, marking a 9% drop.

The total number of first dose recipients stands at 4,817,036, at a 75.2 percent rate for the 18yrs and over target group and 4,553,873 for the second jab, at a 71 percent rate, and 675,256 for the booster shot, according to the briefing.

Regarding immunization for the 12-17 age group, 238,406 received the first dose at a 25 percent rate, and double jabbed recipients reached 203,294 at a 20 percent rate. Meanwhile, among the 5-11 years age group, 331 and 230 children received the first and second doses, respectively.
