Ammon News - The State Security Court (SSC) on Wednesday handed down a temporary hard labor sentence for a 10-year period for three suspects and fined them JD10,000 each on charges related to importing the narcotic pregabalin from an Arab country.

According to the court's verdict, the SSC found the three defendants planned to import narcotic substances from an Arab country for trafficking purposes in Jordan. The second and third suspects met the first to help import narcotics, in return for a JD500 sum.

The ruling noted the three defendants carried out all the procedures to import narcotic substances by requesting the quantity online and paying its cost. The first suspect was scheduled to receive the parcel, which arrived by mail in October last year.

At the beginning of November 2021, Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) was tipped off on the trafficking attempt and seized the pregabalin parcel at a Jordanian post office upon delivery.
