Ammon News - A new hot spell is expected to sweep the Kingdom on Tuesday, pushing temperatures high and bringing hot weather nationwide, except in the highlands where it will be relatively hot, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.

Clouds at various altitudes are forecast to appear in the southern and eastern parts of the country, the JMD added.

The department also warned of poor visibility in early morning hours over the northern heights due to fog formation, and of exposure to sunlight in the afternoon, mainly in the Badia, the Jordan Valley and Aqaba.

As we head into Wednesday, the impact of the heat wave will persist, with mercury levels soaring to 4-5 degrees above seasonal. Therefore, scorching weather will prevail in most regions until Thursday, with clouds at medium and high altitudes in some areas, the JMD further said.

The Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba are set to swelter in blistering weather, the forecasters predicted.

Despite the sizzling conditions, intermittent showers, accompanied by thunder at times, are expected in limited parts of the southern and eastern regions, the JMD noted.

Today’s high temperatures in Amman and other highlands of the Kingdom will be between 34 and 30C, with lows of 19C or even 16C in the southern highlands at night. The temperature will be much hotter in the Gulf city of Aqaba, with a high of 41C and a low of 28C.
