Scorching weather forecast over weekend

Ammon News - The Kingdom on Thursday is expected to bake in a blazing heat wave that will push mercury levels above annual average by almost 5 degrees Celsius, reaching a high of 37 degrees Celsius in the Capital, Amman, during daytime, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.

Cooler weather is forecast at night as temperatures slide to around 22 degrees in the Capital, the JMD added, noting that winds will be northwesterly moderate changing to northeasterly at times.

The Dead Sea, the Jordan Valley and the port city of Aqaba are set to swelter in scorching weather, with temperatures surpassing the 40C threshold, the forecasters said, warning of direct exposure to sunlight in the afternoon.

Over the next two days, similar weather conditions will persist, with northwesterly moderate winds, picking up at times, the JMD predicted.
