Mazo visited the homes of a Syrian and Sudanese families, where he inquired about their conditions and spoke of the possibility the UNHCR provides assistance to support economic development in Jordan, including the integration of refugees into the local labor market.
He also visited a factory that currently employs 45 Syrian refugees from the Zaatari refugee camp, and the number will rise to 250 in the coming months, calling the experience "exceptional and a model for the kind of assistance the refugee agency offers, focusing on job opportunities for refugees.".
Mazo called on the factory to take advantage of the facilities offered to facilities recruiting refugees in terms of export and tax exemptions.
For his part, director of the Princess Basma Development Center Mohammad Shamali said that it provides developmental and social services in the Sahab area to all nationalities with the aim of raising the capacity of local communities and enhancing their development, noting that the center also offers employment services to Jordanian and refugee job seekers, in addition to its services to children, the elderly and people with disabilities.
