Government approves set of draft laws

Ammon News - The Cabinet on Sunday approved the Jordan Medical Council draft law for 2022, to be referred to the Lower House of Parliament to complete the constitutional procedures for endorsement .

The new draft law aims to follow up on new scientific developments that require reconsidering the Council's tasks and authorities and the work of its committees to enable it to achieve its goals and maintain the Kingdom's distinguished medical level.

The draft law also aims to enable the Jordan Medical Council to keep abreast with developments in the excellence, specialties, and fellowship programs and to approve and expand the accreditation of new medical specialties that were not previously approved, and to restructure these programs.

In the meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, the cabinet also approved mandating reasons for a draft law amending the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Law for 2022, and referred it to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau for discussion and taking proper procedures for its endorsement.

On the other hand, the cabinet approved the export of perishable cardboard and paper items without export duties, within the specified customs clauses, provided that the decision would come into force as of publishing in the Official Gazette, and it shall be reconsidered as applicable.

The cabinet also approved to extend the work of the Tax Settlement and Reconciliation Committee formed under the provisions of Article (3) of the foundations for settling outstanding cases between taxpayers and the Income and Sales Tax Department for 2019 until the end of 2022.

The Council of Ministers also approved the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply's proposal to mandate the Independent Election Commission (IEC) to manage and supervise elections of chambers of commerce and industry, and elections of representatives of commercial and industrial sectors.

It also approved the appointment of Faisal Mufleh Al-Smairan as governor in the Ministry of Interior.
